History of USC

The USC Historical Society collects, files and distributes historical information on the township. The collection consists of tapes of more than 50 early residents of the township.

Did you know . . .?
The area around Upper St. Clair was the site of the 1794 Whiskey Rebellion. To find out more about the history of Upper St. Clair, visit the History page on the Township's web site.


The society offers one book: "Upper St. Clair Images of America", and three booklets: "A Pictorial History", "Upper St. Clair As It Was" by Margaret Gilfillan and "School Days, 1970's to 1990's" by Rachel Heins. These booklets can be found in the Vertical File at the library. "The Several St. Clairs" is a video which was produced about 10 years ago and is also available in the library.

Oral History of Upper St. Clair is now available. See these chronicles of local history recounted through personal stories laced with research, vintage photographs and 8mm home film. It has been a labor of love for the high school students who interviewed the residents, as well as the documenting of local history that would otherwise have eventually been lost. More...

Upper St. Clair Images of America is a pictorial history of Upper St. Clair with more than 200 photographs and captions from albums and files of present and former residents.
