Current Activity Summary Report of the Community Foundation of Upper St. ClairNine time Grammy Award winning pianist and band leader, Eddie Palmieri, best known for combining jazz piano and instrumental solos with Latin rhythms, and his Latin Jazz Band played the Upper St. Clair Theatre on March 19, 2010. Below are the photos of the afternoon jazz workshop for students and the evening concert, and watch for future events brought to the USC Theatre by the Community Foundation of Upper St. Clair.

The Upper St. Clair High School Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Frank Eisenreich, opened the concert.

“Becoming
A Competitive College Applicant Seminar VII” was held on February 4,
2009, in conjunction with the College Fair At the David L. Lawrence
Convention Center. Admissions officers from Clemson University,
James Madison University, Ohio University, Purdue University and
University of Michigan presented and answered questions.
In
addition to the highly successful couples Bocce League on the courts
at Baker School, there will be a Men’s League will be started

A Youth Steering Committee grant request for $2,500 was funded to $1,000 to help fund a workshop formally titled “Every-one’s an Asset Builder” to encourage, inform, and engage interested members of the community regarding developmental assets for the healthy development of adolescents and to increase community awareness of problems among our youth. The Community Foundation’s major contributions on Community Day include $225 for the three parade float prizes, plus the ever popular Duck Race. The purchase of reuseable cotton shopping bags with the CF logo was approved as part of the “Going Green” initiative.
A
grant request from Streams Elementary School for supplemental funding to
place a Promethean interactive whiteboard in each level, K-4, was
approved.
CF performed a support role with the township and REEC in regards to the new Recreation Center. A $1,000 grant request for the Athletes Taking Action program was approved; ATA is a mentoring program for student-athletes at the High School. A $100 half-page ad was approved for the Lady Panthers basketball program. A grand celebration on the Steinway D Concert Grand Piano was held with performances by talented students and professional adults. The piano was presented to the school district.
