Rock the Quarry III on The Panhandle Trail
What do Wild Geese and rubber duckies have in common? They will both
be
at "Rock the Quarry III" on the Panhandle Trail in Walkers Mill
Saturday, Sept. 13, 2003. A perennial favorite, The Wild Geese Band with
their rompin', rollickin' Celtic music will perform at 8 p.m. Other bands
on tap starting at 2 p.m. are Marc Kania's Bockscar, Home'ade with Andrew
Feyock (3 p.m.), Groove Merchants jazz with Rick Laus (4 p.m.), Plastic
Soul's rock (5:15 p.m.); and The Primatives (6:30 p.m.) return with their
"folk music that rocks." Dave and Jared Clemens repeat as DJs
starting at 1 p.m..
Continuing tradition, an evening "Remembrance Ceremony" will
take place while bonfires illuminate the huge American flag on the quarry
wall. The fun starts at 1 p.m. when food stands open and cave tours begin.
New this year are games for kids of all ages including the Robinson Run
Regatta (AKA rubber ducky races) and volleyball.
Hand-cut French fries, a big hit last year, will be on the menu along
with hot dogs, kielbasa, Sno Cones and much, much more. Beer will again
be sold under special license by the Collier Sportsmen's Association.
No other alcoholic beverages are allowed on the Trail.
Cave tours are on a limited, first-come first-served basis with preregistration
starting at noon. Old clothes are highly recommended. Admission is free.
